Cloelea Jewellery creations are designed and individually handmade by Chloe Romanos, a French expatriate. She works in her studio in the village of Stanford in the Vale, at the foot of Uffington White Horse hill (Oxfordshire).

Her work focuses on crafting statement rings, necklaces and earrings. She uses sustainable materials to produce small or large pieces of wearable art.

After studying and working as an archaeologist in France and Greece, she decided to study jewellery making and silversmithing at the prestigious Jewellery School in Birmingham.

Using traditional silversmithing techniques, she fashions recycled silver and gold to construct jewellery with a story. She also likes to include a variety of precious and semi-precious stones (labradorite, opal, moonstone, amethyst, ruby, sapphire…).

Chloe has always been fascinated by ancient cultures, and the way objects wear and age over time. Her background in archaeology (and her dream of finding treasures) has inspired her to use texture effects to try to capture the aspect and precious nature of ancient objects or archaeological artefacts dug up from the ground.

She also get her inspiration from her art history studies in Paris, with a fascination for Art Nouveau, in particular the forms of winged animals of all sorts and the dramatic use of lines and curves. Her imagination can as well be guided by inspiring places she has traveled to or books and poems she has read.

She is happy to take on bespoke commissions to adapt and modify her creations to your own taste or to create a truly unique item of jewellery.

In May she exhibits her work as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks Festival.
