The brand is the inspiration and creation of Dr Andrew Ludlow, an artist and chemist, whose dream was to produce a superior watercolour, with an intensity and brilliance of colour that artists would love using.

Each colour has been specially formulated to offer the greatest flexibility to the artist. They are all based on single pigments and because they contain only pure pigment, the colours’ brightness, hue and transparency are uncompromised.
Each watercolour is manufactured in England with the best ingredients and finest pigments. The company ethos is to follow in the footsteps of the traditional Artists’ Colourmen, continuing the tradition of English colourmen of outstanding reputation and skill that dates back several centuries.
