Silke Espinet Design

Lovingly handcrafted jewellery influenced by nature and Tai Chi

Silke Espinet Design – My name is Silke and I am a jeweller. I am based in London and Surrey. Enamelling and textured metal are favourite elements in my work. I particularly love creating jewellery with precious and semi precious stones, as I believe in the healing power of stones.

I love working with diamonds, rubies, tourmalines and emeralds, as well as turquoise and amber. My stones are personally selected from reputable and ethical sources.

The protection of the environment and wild animals are important to me, and animals are the inspiration for my latest work. The series “Endangered Species” creates wearable art, featuring majestic and beautiful animals like elephants and tigers, and insects like bees.

Pieces from this collection are lovingly handcrafted and enamelled. My work is further influenced by nature and Tai Chi, as well as art and opera.

One of my most successful collections, “The World on the Moon”, features star flowers in three different sizes. It can be produced in silver or gold, with small precious stones, or enamelled.

I have recently added a beautiful collection of pearl jewellery. Perfect for weddings, I can make this collection with wonderful sweet water pearls or stunning baroque statement pearls.

I graduated with a Jewellery and Silversmithing Degree at the Sir John Cass (LMU) in 2012, and my graduate collection won various industry awards. It was a collection of rings, among them a large 18 Carat enamelled Palette ring (the design won a bursary from the Goldsmiths Centre), and my Madame Butterfly Ring which was published in the book Colour and Textures in Jewellery, 2019.

During the last few years I have taken on a number of commissions like rings, necklaces and bracelets. I am happy to chat about commissions in silver or gold.

During this lockdown I have taken the opportunity to take quite a few online courses, as I strive to continue my professional development. I am currently undertaking a diamond certification course by DeBeers. Earlier this year I have taken a stone setting course and a champleve enamelling course at the Goldsmiths Centre in London.
