Susannah Weiland Collections – Susannah is a mixed media artist who combines pencil drawing, hand embroidery and beading to create unique pieces of wall art. Her art is influenced by nature, and each series of work is based on the wildlife of a particular area. Susannah is based in Richmond upon Thames, and her first collection was inspired by Kew Gardens. She is a keen photographer and often draws from her own photographs. Her tonal pencil drawings are printed onto fabric into which she meticulously hand stitches colour using fine embroidery threads and beads. She is passionate about her work. Her pieces take many hours to create, and each artwork is one-of-a-kind.

Susannah studied Graphic Design and while working as a textile designer took many evening and weekend courses to explore other design and craft mediums. Having discovered her favourite disciplines, she experimented with ways of combining them. This led her to develop her signature style, which incorporates her love of tonal black and white pencil drawing with colourful, delicate hand embroidery and beading. She has found the use of thread to paint colour into her monochrome drawings to be a slow but exciting process, each stitch adding texture and bringing her drawings to life.
Susannah has taken part in many shows and exhibitions, including London Craft Week, and has exhibited abroad. She is a member of Design Nation, The Heritage Craft Association and the Crafts Council Directory. She works from her home studio. Her work is available to purchase through her website at www.susannahweiland.co.uk
