SO Sustainable

SO Sustainable is a small refill shop based in Watlington, Oxfordshire. We stock organic wholefoods, natural home and beauty products as well as an extensive range of sustainable gifts.

Started in 2019 by Steph Van de Pette our founder and owner, SO Sustainable grew out of a desire to create a sustainable shopping experience for the local community and beyond. Initially a home based business, SO Sustainable grew quickly, thanks in no small part to the COVID-19 pandemic as we were the only shop that had a regular supply of flour, pasta and toilet roll for miles around!

A successful crowdfunder campaign in 2020 enabled us to take on a High Street premises and expand our sustainability offering. We’d love to welcome you to our Watlington based shop but if you can’t get to us in person you are able to order online at so-sustainable.co.uk.

We love helping you to make small changes that let you tread that little bit lighter on our wonderful planet. We aim to make every day sustainable choices that little bit easier to make. We take great care to ensure all our products are ethically sourced, environmentally responsible and would make a beautiful addition to your home.

We’re always adding to our stock and researching ways to make living a sustainable life easier whilst staying true to our mantra, borrowed from Anne-Marie Bonneau (aka @zerowastechef) “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions doing it imperfectly”. We understand that everyone is in a different place in their zero waste journey so we will never judge!

We carefully hand pack all of your orders in our little shop in Watlington, Oxfordshire and reuse as much packaging as possible. We recommend you decant any food products into airtight containers as soon as possible. Our paper bags can be reused for packed lunches, used to line your food waste bin or ripped up and composted. Any bottles can be reused, recycled or returned to us.

We were set up to predominately serve our local community in South Oxfordshire and encourage you to seek our local zero waste shops if you are not based near us, however, we are always happy to ship nationwide if you cannot reach a local store.
