Rhian Wyman Design

Rhian Wyman Design uses traditional hand weaving methods alongside contemporary colour placements. After graduating with a BA Hons Textile Design degree from Hereford College of Art, Rhian gained experience through 3 internships before becoming a weaving assistant and commission weaving throws. In April 2017 Rhian started to design and hand weave products for her own company Rhian Wyman Design.

Whilst designing her Throws and Scarves, Rhian is inspired by the colour combinations and form structure that is created in nature from different places she visits, reflected in the collection titles (Lichen, Moss, Heather, Cotswold, Porthclais). The yarn comes from a mill in Yorkshire and Rhian completes all the hand weaving and finishing processes herself. The only process that isn’t completed by hand is washing the throws which is done by foot, using the original stomping method. She is fascinated by the yarn’s transformation from the cone to the woven cloth. Utilising cuts within her eco range makes Rhian Wyman Design a sustainable company.

Rhian Wyman Design creates a piece of art that can be passed down through the family for generations and become a family heirloom. Rhian finds it important to stress that no two throws are the same, although part of a collection each throw is unique so make sure you look carefully when selecting your new heirloom.
