Mostly Books

Mostly Books is a friendly, independent bookshop located in Abingdon. The shop opened in 2006 and has been under new management since mid-2017. Since the current owner, Sarah Dennis, took over the business, the shop has gone from strength to strength with a full refurb, an extensive events calendar and increased local engagement in schools and across the community.

Mostly Books prides itself on providing excellent customer service. With an almost equal split of adults and children’s stock, including our highly recommended books we love – the shop caters to all ages and interests.

Mostly Books is an inclusive, safe space, for all customers, and the staff often find themselves lending an ear to members of the community. For some regular customers, a visit to the bookshop is a highlight of their day.

Mostly Books has a great selection of gift options which include:

• Books Throughout the Year – Entitles the recipient to a selection of hand-picked books that are delivered, gift-wrapped at agreed points throughout the year.
• Blind Date with a Book – A gift wrapped mystery book with a delicious bar of chocolate and a stash of fine tea bags
• Children’s Mystery Book Bundles – Five children’s fiction titles for £30, hand-picked by the Mostly Books Team.

The shop is both dog and child-friendly, with plenty of space for buggies and numerous child-sized bean bags dotted around. There is a colouring table, a toy box and some over-sized books which are looked after by Hugless Douglas, who lives in the Mostly Books ‘Book Nook’. It is a common sight to see a child perched on a bean bag with their nose in a book.
