Designing and making beautiful pieces of flatware and tableware from sterling silver and locally sourced English holly, Charlotte Anne Duckworth creates exquisite yet functional pieces of art for the kitchen. Making enchanting cutlery by bringing together silver and wood with the aim to capture and preserve the qualities of the materials.

Transforming them into magical utensils uniting the natural texture and form of found wood and the delicacy and elegance of silver. Designed with function and beauty, considering proportions. Rooted in the English landscape. Choosing the twigs that are appropriate for the function of the design, trying to capture the organic quality. Sterling Silver, robust but capable of subtle qualities, and English Holly, a hard, durable wood, forming individual, unique pieces of art for the kitchen.

Charlotte fell in love with being in the kitchen and cooking and baking from a young age. Once beginning to make in metal, she instantly wanted to make her own kitchenware pieces. Believing that beautiful, thought-out pieces work better through being appreciated and leading you in their utility has been a strong inspiration behind how she designs and develops her work.

Wanting to inspire and captivate her audience with work that is unusual and tasteful, she enjoys understanding the rules and needs behind each piece made. When designing and making items for the kitchen, they have requirements that dictate certain elements of the design. Understanding how the metal will react and move under the hammer or fire, is something that Charlotte relishes learning and exploring.

Charlotte offers the chance for the public to experience the joy of making and exploring silver through workshops and courses. Offering 1:2:1 workshop experiences in her Bristol based studio, these range from one day workshops to 8-week silversmithing courses. She also runs group workshops in Prema, a charity organisation in Uley near Dursley and New Brewery Arts in Cirencester.
